Here’s one to ponder, and I was thinking about this as Opie and Anthony talked about U2 this morning…
How many bands do you consider “favorites” but you don’t really go deep catalog with? For me there’s U2, Pearl Jam, and a few others that I really love but don’t know their whole body of work (unlike bands like Guns N Roses and Alice in Chains, that I know every one of their songs).
Your turn… Which bands do you love, but you don’t go deep catalog with? And can you truly love a band without being really well-versed in their whole body of work?

I have always been a fan of Queen. Since I was old enough to start discovering my own music, they’ve been one of my favorite bands. If you hear this cut off Some Nights (this is cut #1) and don’t see the influence there, I’d be stunned.

I knew the song had lyrics, but I had no idea that’s what they were. Wifey and I were discussing this one a few nights ago and we were mesmerized by the horrendousness of the lyrics.

If you watch sports at all, you’ve probably seen Heineken’s brilliant commercials. The commercial that featured the song above was so good that an extended version was put on YouTube as a standalone music video.
AGT is an interesting band. Part pop, part alternative, and a little bit off-beat, the variety of music they sling into one album is a definite treat.

A little strangeness for the day. If you’ve never heard of Empire of the Sun you’re missing out on a very odd band with a very unique sound and some crazy visuals during their stage shows. Here’s the video for We Are The People, which kinda backs up what I’m talking about.
